has glosseng: Polish Requiem (Polish: Polskie Requiem, also: A Polish Requiem, German: Polnisches Requiem) is a large scale musical work for soloists, mixed choir and orchestra of Krzysztof Penderecki, written originally between 1980 and 1984, revised and expanded in 1993 and expanded again in 2005 by an additional movement, Ciaccona. The attribute Polish refers to the dedication of several parts to distinguished personalities and victims of violence in the history of Poland rather than to its language. It follows the liturgical Latin of the Requiem, expanded by a traditional Polish hymn, Święty Boże.
