There had been two "champion versus champion" matches held, but this tournament held in 2005 was the first major event featuring players from each organisation.

Het evenement, dat in het ExpoCenter Hengelo gespeeld wordt, werd voor het eerst in 2005 georganiseerd en vond in februari 2007 voor de tweede maal plaats. Bij de eerste editie was de Masters Of Darts overigens een strijd tussen de beste vier PDC-spelers en de beste vier BDO-spelers.
